My Way, One Way (Acts 14:16)

Burger King prides itself in doing things your way. They are known for preparing food to your specific and maybe even odd requests. If you want jalepenos on your fries, they will do it. If you want ketchup in your milkshake, they will do it. Even if you want a Whopper with extra lettuce, extra tomatoes, no burger and no bun with extra ranch and croutons (you could of just ordered a salad)...they will do it! Because it is all about having it your way, right away. In Acts 14:16 Paul and Barnabas tell the Lycoanians that in the past God let all the nations go their own way. If they wanted to worship an animal, he let them. If they wanted to sacrifice to a little figurine, he let them. If they wanted to deny His existence completely, he let them. Of course they would not experience eternal life and enjoy relationship with Him, but hey, if denying the true God and worshipping idols and fictitious beings is what floats your boat...then have at it. There are three words I love in this verse though, "in the past" or in other translations "generations gone by". Why do I love these words? Because it draws the line in time when God through His Son Jesus, changed things up. He no longer was going to allow all the nations to wonder aimlessly worshipping their own way without providing them "the Way" (John 14:6). No longer were people like you and me going to be allowed to destroy ourselves and face an eternal demise without the Way being offered to us, made known to us. God has not only carved out the path to take but He has filled our world with signs, little signs, big signs, billboards and HUGE Blimp size signs that fill our lives each day to lead us to His way. Many still don't see the signs, they still don't know the path is there, offered to them. There is another path that calls out to them. At the end of it is destruction. (Matt. 7:13). May we be reminded today that the Way has been pathed for us, that Christ changed History and no longer are we forced to wonder aimlessly. If you have repented of your sin and have trusted Christ as your savior you have been set on the Way, if you haven't look around you. Look at the signs. Listen to the truths proclaimed in The Bible, listen to friends who have been changed by the Way. Don't be distracted with the fact that your path, your way is filled with many people...the Bible is clear that is the case. Don't spend another day wondering in the realm of your own "freedom" and miss out on the Freedom of Forgiveness and Grace given to all who find the Way. (IICor 3:17)

Lord help me be reminded of how you changed history and showed me the Way, The one Way.
