"To The Unknown God"

In our small group journal today we read the story of Paul at Mars Hill. Paul, while walking around the city of Athens, saw the whole place filled with alters and idols to their false gods. While surrounded by the darkness of their ignorance Paul seizes an opportunity to share the truth of the Gospel with the lost. He uses one of their own Pagan alters as an open door to conversation about Christ. His use of the familiar gives him a voice to those who were far away from God. In a world that knows little about the true God, you and I are surrounded by alters that provide venues of worship to many things other than the Creator that saved us. Whether it is the idol of the mighty green dollar that millions give their life to gain, or the idol of beauty that drive women to physical perfection and men to forsake the marriage bed, or maybe it is the idol of comfortable Christianity that presents a shadow of the cross surrounded by cushy couches filled with men and women with smooth hands and knees and fat spiritual bellys filled with teaching never applied... our idols of worship exist today. As worshippers of the one true God it is time to rise up and present the truth to a lost world that is surrounded by religious emptiness.

What are some other things that people worship? Things that receive the praise, honor, time and sacrifice that is owed only to God? What experience, knowledge, wisdom do we have that can help guide them away from those idols and towards Jesus.
